When you join us as an intern, we start with a warm, personalized video call to get to know you and discuss your upcoming stay. Once everything is set, we encourage you to fly into Grande Prairie airport, where you’ll be greeted with open arms and a warm smile, ready to transport you back to the heart of Campbell Land. Upon arrival, we ensure you have all the essentials for a comfortable stay. We've got you covered from a cozy bunk to a handy water jug, gloves, and safety glasses. We’ll give you a farm tour and introduce you to the amazing team you’ll be working with.
​We understand that adjusting to a new time zone, culture, and language can be challenging. That's why we begin with shorter workdays to help you acclimate to the routine. Proficiency in English is essential for safety and effective communication, especially when operating equipment. We encourage you to practice your English skills before your arrival to fully engage and make the most of your time here.
You’ll begin with simple tasks to gauge your English comprehension and ability to follow directions. As you demonstrate proficiency, we’ll entrust you with more responsibilities, highlighting the importance of thoroughness and attention to detail in every task, no matter how small. While you’ll have your own sleeping quarters and common area, meals are a family affair at Campbell Land. Sharing meals with the family helps foster connections and aids in cultural assimilation.
Outside of work, you’ll have the chance to explore the stunning Alberta countryside. Spot local wildlife like moose and bears, kayak on the river, or enjoy day boating on the nearby lake with Brett, our resident adventure enthusiast. Embracing the Northern SummerAs the days grow longer in the northern summer, you’ll be amazed by the rapid growth of crops, preparing for the bustling harvest season. By the time harvest arrives, you’ll be well-equipped with an expanded vocabulary, familiarity with the farm, and the ability to work independently and follow directions, ensuring a successful and rewarding experience for everyone.
